reading week

well, it's been a week of reading, reading and reading. I am ever so glad that i've semi-revived my dying-of-trashy-novels brain. reading the first book of Phillip Pullman's His Dark Materials series was a totally shiok experience. don't know if it's because i'd watched the movie, but reading it this time around, it wasn't as difficult as it was the first time. i remember when maryam lent it to me months ago, i didn't even get to the part where mrs. coulter appeared, because it just felt so hard to read. m was quite perplexed, and after reading it this time, i am rather, too. it was a totally excellent read, one of those totally excellent fantasy novels that draws you so totally into the fantasy-world. reading it makes you dread the ending, because it means you have to come back to the real world, which isn't as colourful, exciting or appealing as the world in the book.
it's as good as, although in a very different way, from Tamora Pierce's books, and LJ Smith's. there's a reason i went through a totally fantasy phase when i was younger, and Northern Lights has really reminded me of that. it's high time i get back to The Grey King, although that's packed up in Sengkang now.
Apart from Pullman's book, the other really good book i read this week was the first book in Tamora Pierce's new series, Trickster's Choice. it's not a new new book, although the series is still in progress, and i've been meaning to read it for awhile now. it's really, really, reallllly good!!! now, i seriously can't wait to go get the second one.
speaking of getting books..
maryam, eeling and i were agonising over the fugly
now if there're any of you who haven't gotten me my christmas present, and have no idea what to get me, there's always the option of Kino vouchers. hee.
although, speaking of presents, they are such a headache! i mean, wishlists and all are nice, but it seems kinda..unimaginative to get someone something they've spelled out for you. not like georgie or maryam have wishlists for me to consult.....
bleh
in any case.
it's lunch time.
haha.
