went off to vivo today, and on a spur-of-the moment whim, bought a ticket for Beowulf, thinking that with Anthony Hopkins, Crispin Glover and John Malkovich it couldn't be bad.
then the movie started, and i discovered, to my utter, utter horror, that i was watching a freaking cartoon! or animated film, as people like to call them these days.
honestly, i have nothing against cartoons. in fact, i freaking love them. ask anyone.
my mother, for instance, thinks i'm a little retarded cos i protest every time she thinks about cancelling our disney channel, and cos i chope the tv to watch kim possible. i'm also the only one in the family who sits with my cousins and watch what they watch—cos i like it.
but Beowulf?? sorry, no. definitely NOT cartoon material. especially not this rendering of it! perhaps a little of this disbeliving annoyance stems from the fact that i was totally not expecting a cartoon, since, for crying out loud, the damn thing is rated NC16~!
some people are going to say, it's not a cartoon, it's motion capture, but hey, same difference to me. it was like watching freaking shrek! i spent most of the movie trying to decide whether or not it was REALLY a cartoon or not. sheesh. i feel so freaking cheated. i cannot believe itt! pfft.
